What are ISA-certified arborists, and why does it matter?
ISA-certified arborists are professionals trained and tested by the International Society of Arboriculture. Certification ensures they meet international industry standards for tree care, safety, and science-based practices. Choosing certified arborists like ours guarantees expertise, quality, and a commitment to continuing education to stay up to date on the most current knowledge. Anybody can call themselves an arborist, but not just anybody can be certified.
What does TCIA accreditation mean?
TCIA accreditation is a seal of excellence in the tree care industry. It demonstrates that our company adheres to strict standards in ethics, safety, and professionalism. This accreditation ensures that we meet or exceed industry best practices, providing peace of mind to our clients.
Why is continuing education important in tree care?
Trees and their environments are constantly influenced by evolving science, pests, diseases, and climate change. Continuing education ensures our team stays up-to-date on the latest techniques, safety protocols, and best practices to provide top-notch service.
Tree Removal
When should I consider tree removal?
Tree removal may be necessary if a tree is:
- Dead or dying
- Structurally unsound or posing a safety risk
- Infected with an untreatable disease or pest
- Causing damage to property or infrastructure
- Obstructing construction or landscaping projects
Our team assesses each situation thoroughly to recommend the best course of action. Note that all arboricultural operations follow the latest version of the ANSI Z133.1 industry safety standards.
Do you provide free estimates?
We offer free estimates for properties within our service range in the Reno area. For locations outside this range, a $65 deposit is required, which may be applied to the final cost if you choose to approve our estimate.
How do you ensure safety during tree removal?
We prioritize safety by using advanced equipment, following strict protocols, and employing experienced arborists. We also carry full insurance for liability and Workers' Compensation as required by law. Certificates of coverage are available upon request.
Pruning and Surgery
Why is pruning important for my trees?
Pruning improves tree health, structure, and appearance. It removes dead or diseased branches, enhances airflow and sunlight penetration, and prevents potential hazards in urban landscapes. Techniques such as clearance pruning, structural pruning, and thinning ensure optimal results.
What is tree surgery?
Tree surgery involves precise, technical procedures to address structural issues, decay, or injuries. It’s often used to save trees from severe damage or prolong their lifespan and can include cabling or bracing in mature trees.
Fertilization and Health
How do I know if my tree needs fertilization?
Signs a tree may benefit from fertilization include:
- Poor growth or thinning foliage
- Discolored or yellowing (chlorotic) leaves
- Signs of nutrient deficiency in soil tests
We provide soil tests for a fee and will help you analyze them to determine the best course of action.
What steps do you take to treat pests or diseases?
We begin with a thorough inspection to identify the issue. Treatment options may include:
- Providing thorough evaluations to determine the underlying cause
- Improving soil health and tree resilience through fertilization and care
- By following Integrated Pest Management (IPM) best practices, which is an eco-friendly approach to managing pests by using a combination of techniques, such as monitoring pest populations, setting action thresholds, using biological controls, and applying chemical treatments only when necessary. This method focuses on long-term prevention and minimizes environmental impact by reducing the reliance on pesticides.
Consultations and Risk Assessments
How can I tell if a tree is a risk to my property?
Warning signs include:
- Cracks or splits in the trunk
- Leaning trees
- Fungal growth at the base
- Dead branches
We offer professional risk assessments to evaluate the safety and health of your trees.
Do you provide free consultations or estimates?
Yes! We offer free estimates for properties within our service range. For locations outside this range, we require a $65 deposit, which may be applied to the final cost. We do provide consultations and risk assessments at a fee.

Miscellaneous
What happens to the tree debris after service?
We handle debris responsibly by recycling or disposing of it according to local regulations. We also offer wood chip delivery upon request. Clean-up includes removing wood, brush, and clippings, and raking/blowing the affected area. Clean-up is included in our pricing unless otherwise noted.
Why should I spread wood chips?
Wood chip mulch helps retain soil moisture, suppress weeds, regulate soil temperature, and improve soil structure as it decomposes, all while providing a natural ground cover.

Unless otherwise noted, payment is due within 30 days of work completion for residential services. Late payments incur a 5% finance charge per 15 days. Returned checks are subject to a $25 fee.
